About Blue Bird Corporation Buses
Blue Bird was founded in 1927 in Fort Valley, Georgia, where it still builds school buses today. Its Type A Micro Bird line began as a joint venture with Quebec-based Girardin. Blue Bird bought Girardin's remaining 50% stake in 2026, so Micro Bird is now wholly owned by Blue Bird. The company has also expanded into propane and electric school buses.
What Buyers Look for in Used Blue Bird Buses
Buyers usually compare fuel type (propane units need access to propane fueling), engine family and emissions systems on diesels, mileage, frame and floor rust, and A/C. For skoolie buyers, roof height and window layout also matter. Always confirm the seat count fits your state's rules.
